Israel Establishes New Military Corridor Across Gaza

Israel has stepped up its military operations in Gaza by establishing a new security corridor between Rafah and Khan Younis. This development, reported as of early April 2025 following the ceasefire collapse on March 18, is designed to pressure Hamas into addressing the hostage crisis. Overnight strikes reportedly killed over 40 Palestinians, including women and children, and a targeted attack on a UNRWA shelter claimed 15 lives, among them 9 children, with Israeli officials asserting that the site was used by Hamas.

The intensified operation comes amid rising international criticism and severe humanitarian challenges. The UN has highlighted over 1,000 deaths since the ceasefire ended and warned that Gaza is now the most hazardous area for humanitarian workers, with more than 64% of the region inaccessible due to the closure of crossings. In parallel, Israel’s Defense Minister announced plans to seize large portions of Gaza to integrate into Israeli security zones, complicating an already volatile situation both domestically and internationally.
