Ukraine is set to send an official delegation to Washington next week to negotiate a new draft agreement that would grant U.S. access to its valuable mineral resources. Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko confirmed on April 7, 2025, that representatives from Ukraine’s Economy, Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Finance ministries will attend discussions, which follow a contentious Oval Office meeting in February that stalled previous negotiations.

The upcoming talks will address issues including the structure of a joint investment fund aimed at supporting Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. While the current U.S. Treasury draft outlines key operational details, Ukraine plans to define its negotiation positions and red lines to ensure any deal protects its strategic interests over resources such as rare-earth minerals, oil, and gas.
