USC sophomore guard JuJu Watkins was honored on April 4, 2025, as the Associated Press Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, becoming only the fourth sophomore to earn the accolade since 1995. Garnering 29 out of 31 votes from national media panelists, Watkins led the Trojans to their most successful season in nearly four decades and secured the program’s first Big Ten regular-season title in 31 years.
Despite an ACL injury during the NCAA Tournament, her outstanding season featured averages of 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
