On April 8, 2025, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever announced a new bilateral aid package of €1 billion during a press conference in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This package underscores Belgium’s ongoing commitment to provide both financial and military support to Ukraine, with plans to maintain at least the same level of assistance annually throughout the current term.
In addition to the financial commitment, Belgium confirmed its adherence to previous military aid promises. The government will deliver two F-16 fighter jets for spare parts in 2025 and plans to send two more operational F-16s in 2026. Future aircraft deliveries, however, will depend on the timeline of the F-35 program as Belgium prepares to transition from the F-16s once the new jets arrive.
