During Microsoft's 50th anniversary celebration in Redmond, Washington, AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman was interrupted by employee Ibtihal Aboussad on April 2025. Aboussad accused the company of profiting from war and using its AI technology to support military actions, claims that echo findings from an earlier Associated Press investigation which reported that AI tools developed by Microsoft and OpenAI were used by the Israeli military to select bombing targets in Gaza and Lebanon.
