Live-Action 'How to Train Your Dragon' Cast Announced with Key Additions

In May 2023, it was revealed that Mason Thames and Nico Parker had been cast as Hiccup and Astrid in the upcoming live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon. Later updates in January 2024 introduced Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick from the animated films, while additional cast members were confirmed to round out the ensemble. Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn were announced to play Gobber, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut, respectively.
In March 2024, Ruth Codd was added to the lineup, set to portray Phlegma. The project, which has generated excitement among fans and industry insiders alike, is gearing up for its theatrical debut on June 13, 2025, with further details about the production emerging at events such as CinemaCon and in coverage by outlets like Cinemark and Entertainment Weekly.
