Pat Gelsinger, the former CEO of Intel, has joined Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Playground Global as a general partner. He will also take on the role of executive chairman at startup xLight, a portfolio company developing a more energy-efficient laser for extreme ultraviolet lithography. With Playground Global managing $1.2 billion in assets since its inception in 2015, Gelsinger is set to collaborate with 10-20 companies focused on deep tech investments aimed at achieving at least a tenfold improvement over current standards.
