Russian President Vladimir Putin’s investment envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, is set to visit Washington for talks with members of the former Trump administration. As the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and a former Goldman Sachs banker with a Stanford education, Dmitriev is among the most senior Russian officials planning a visit since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Scheduled for early April 2025, the visit could cover a broad agenda including U.S.-Russia economic cooperation, energy prices, opportunities in the Arctic, rare earths, and discussions on the conflict in Ukraine. The meeting may also serve as a conduit for a message from Putin to his former U.S. counterpart, underlining Dmitriev’s close ties with key figures in the Trump administration.
