A recent report by the Walton Family Foundation and Gallup, based on a survey of nearly 3,500 individuals aged 13 to 28 conducted in March 2025, reveals that while Generation Z expresses apprehension towards artificial intelligence, they continue to adopt AI tools in their daily lives. The survey highlights a notable tension as digitally native Gen Z seeks clearer policies and guidance for AI, particularly in educational and workplace settings.

Notably, 72% of respondents believe that AI can improve access to information. The report also found disparities in exposure to formal AI policies, with students in urban and wealthier communities more likely to be in schools with structured guidelines on AI usage. Additional research from early 2025 indicates that while Gen Z is eager to integrate AI into their routines, they remain cautious about its broader impacts on their future, emphasizing the need for well-defined strategies in both academic and professional domains.
