Blue Origin Launches All-Female Celebrity Crew with Katy Perry, Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez

On April 14, 2025, Blue Origin made history by launching an all-female celebrity crew on the New Shepard rocket from West Texas. The 10‑minute automated flight, which reached an altitude of 66 miles and offered a few minutes of weightlessness, carried renowned figures such as singer Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, and scientist-activist Amanda Nguyen. This event marked the first all-female U.S. spaceflight and only the second such mission globally since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo journey in 1963.

The mission not only celebrated technological progress in commercial spaceflight but also highlighted the drive toward inclusivity in space exploration. VIPs including Oprah Winfrey and members of the Kardashian family joined the celebration as Jeff Bezos greeted the returning crew. With 58 passengers ferried since its inception, Blue Origin is paving the way for a future where space tourism and diverse astronaut representation go hand in hand.
