Rami Malek Leads Relatable Revenge Thriller 'The Amateur'

Rami Malek stars as CIA coder Charlie Heller in the espionage thriller The Amateur, a modern remake of Robert Littell's 1981 book and film. After his wife Sarah is killed during a business trip, Charlie, whose IQ of 170 sets him apart, finds his superiors unwilling to act. Determined to bring the perpetrators to justice, he resorts to blackmailing them for mission-specific training to aid his dangerous quest for vengeance.

Also serving as a producer, Malek emphasizes the film's underdog theme and Cold War undertones, reminding audiences of the timeless struggle against authority. Laurence Fishburne co-stars as Henderson, who helps train Charlie, while director James Hawes promises a series of unpredictable twists. The film is set for a global release on April 9, 2025.
