In March 2025, the Tampa Bay Rays began their season at the New York Yankees’ spring training facility, Steinbrenner Field, after Hurricane Milton left Tropicana Field significantly damaged with repair costs estimated at $55.7 million. The move, enabled by close cooperation with the Yankees and helped by insurance funds, ensures that Rays fans can continue enjoying local games while the team preserves its market presence. Renovations to convert Steinbrenner Field into a major league-ready park were completed in an intensive 120-hour period, including adjustments to signage and player amenities.

Additional enhancements such as improved weight rooms, therapy pools, and upgraded training areas have not only attracted fans with benefits like a shorter commute and outdoor play but have also hinted at the future potential of a new stadium slated for 2028. The debut season at Steinbrenner Field has been eventful from the start—with notable moments like Kameron Misner’s walk-off home run and a strong performance during the opening series, underscoring the resilience and community spirit of both the team and its fans.
