NASA has announced key updates to its Artemis campaign and Lunar Gateway schedule. The agency now targets Artemis II, its first crewed mission around the Moon, for September 2025, while Artemis III—which aims to land astronauts near the lunar South Pole—is scheduled for September 2026. These adjustments are designed to ensure crew safety, allow time to resolve technical issues, and support the integration of new systems.

In addition, NASA is reviewing the launch date for the first integrated elements of the Lunar Gateway, a small space station that will orbit the Moon. This review is intended to better align its deployment with the planned Artemis IV mission in 2028, and the agency has asked its human landing system providers, SpaceX and Blue Origin, to incorporate lessons from their current developments to potentially deliver larger cargo on later missions. The updated timelines reflect NASA’s ongoing efforts in 2025 to refine mission safety and operational readiness within a dynamic space exploration environment.
