The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to deploy approximately 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in 2025 to help rebuild Ukraine's war-damaged energy sector. The initiative comes amid extensive infrastructure damage due to ongoing conflict with Russia over the past three years.
Building on previous investments—including 2 billion euros already deployed for energy security and a cumulative commitment of 6.4 billion euros since February 2022—the bank is focused on modernizing and decentralizing Ukraine’s energy systems. Efforts include boosting renewable energy capacity and working with Naftogaz to secure natural gas supplies for the next winter, as reported in early 2025.
