UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for unprecedented global collaboration to address the dual challenges of climate change and the governance of artificial intelligence. Speaking on multiple international platforms — including his remarks to the Security Council on December 19, 2024, and further remarks at the Davos Forum on January 22, 2025 — he emphasized that coordinated, inclusive strategies are essential for managing rapid technological advancements and climate emergencies.

In addition to highlighting the risks associated with unregulated AI, Guterres underlined the transformative potential of artificial intelligence when harnessed responsibly. At the AI Action Summit in Paris on February 11, 2025, he reiterated the need for international watchdogs and comprehensive oversight mechanisms. The Secretary-General’s message remains clear: through global unity and rigorous, inclusive governance, nations can secure a sustainable and equitable future for all.
