James Cameron’s upcoming third installment, titled 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' is set for a December 2025 release. The film picks up the saga of Jake Sully and Neytiri on Pandora where, in addition to human invaders, the Sully family faces challenges from the mysterious Ash people. Director Cameron emphasized at CinemaCon in April 2025 that the film brings enhanced emotional depth and visual spectacle to the franchise.

The story also introduces a peaceful, nomadic group known as the wind traders, further expanding Pandora's intricate cultural tapestry. With the original 'Avatar' film still holding the title of the highest-grossing movie of all time, industry insiders are optimistic that this next chapter will not only satisfy longtime fans but also help revitalize theater attendance post-pandemic.
