Microsoft has announced a significant update to its AI assistant, Copilot, transforming it into a proactive companion. The upgrade, which began rolling out on April 4, 2025, introduces memory features that allow Copilot to remember past interactions and user preferences, ensuring a personalized experience while giving users complete control over their data.

Additionally, the new 'Actions' feature enables the AI to autonomously complete multi-step tasks such as booking travel or finding housing through partner services like Expedia, TripAdvisor, and OpenTable. Enhanced integration with Windows and mobile devices now incorporates visual awareness via smartphone cameras and the ability to monitor screen activity. New tools like 'Pages' and 'Deep Research' further bolster project organization and research capabilities, while features like personalized podcasts and shopping assistance highlight Microsoft’s commitment to evolving Copilot into an intuitive, all-in-one digital assistant.

These updates, underscored during Microsoft’s 50th anniversary events, also improve Bing Search by adding generative insights into standard results, marking a major step forward in the company’s drive to lead in the AI landscape.
