Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar has been suspended for 80 games without pay after testing positive for Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG), a banned performance-enhancing substance. The suspension, announced on March 31, 2025, is effective immediately. Profar, who earned his first All-Star nod last season while with the San Diego Padres, is now facing significant time away from the field as he begins serving his penalty.

Profar, who joined the Braves on a three-year, $42 million contract, expressed remorse about the incident, apologizing to the organization, his teammates, and the fans. He maintained that he never knowingly took a banned substance and accepted Major League Baseball’s decision. As additional details emerged, it was noted that he may be eligible to return on June 29, but he will miss the remainder of the season’s postseason action.
