Sports Illustrated is set to debut the SI Women's Games in fall 2025, a new biennial event that will showcase elite female athletes across six sports—basketball, gymnastics, tennis, flag football, volleyball, and another unspecified event. The athletes will compete for a sizable prize pool, and ticket sales are slated to begin in the spring of 2025.
This initiative is part of a major push to elevate women's sports, following Minute Media's 10-year licensing agreement in 2024 to manage Sports Illustrated’s digital and print platforms. In April 2025, Scripps Sports secured a multi-year agreement with ION to broadcast the live event in prime time, further underscoring the increasing public interest and investor backing in women's sports.
