California Youth Soccer Coach Charged in 13-Year-Old's Murder

Southern California youth soccer coach Mario Edgardo Garcia-Aquino has been charged with the murder of 13-year-old Oscar Omar Hernandez. Prosecutors allege that Garcia-Aquino killed the boy during or in an attempt to commit lewd acts, and his arraignment is scheduled for April 30.

Additional reports indicate that Hernandez was reported missing on March 30 after he traveled to visit Garcia-Aquino in Lancaster. His body was later discovered along a roadside in Ventura County. Garcia-Aquino also faces separate charges related to the sexual assault of two other teens, including an incident involving a 16-year-old in Palmdale. Authorities are considering the possibility of a death penalty or life imprisonment without parole, and the investigation continues as more details emerge.
