Vance Fumbles Ohio State's Championship Trophy During White House Visit

During Ohio State’s NCAA football championship celebration on April 14, 2025, Vice President JD Vance—an Ohio State alumnus—accidentally fumbled the Buckeyes’ trophy during a White House ceremony. While attempting to lift the trophy on the South Lawn, its golden top detached from its black base, momentarily disrupting the event amid speeches by President Donald Trump and Coach Ryan Day.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson quickly caught the detached top as the base rolled away, and with Coach Day’s assistance, the trophy was reassembled. Later, Vance humorously remarked on social media about “breaking” it to keep rival teams at bay, adding a lighthearted twist to an otherwise awkward moment celebrated with the Marine Corps Band playing a spirited rendition of "We Are the Champions."
