Max has rolled out 120 new features as part of its global expansion over the past year. The update aims to enhance content discovery with improved homepage navigation, new ways to find similar content during streaming, and recommendations after finishing a title. However, some ad-related updates — including QR code shopping ads, sponsored content, and targeted commercials similar to those on Prime Video — have sparked controversy among users. An automated trailer playback feature on the homepage has also received mixed reviews for being distracting.

In addition, U.S. subscribers can now watch five HBO linear channels and enjoy a new multiview feature for NASCAR, broadening the platform’s live content offerings. Max has expanded its service to 73 new countries and is preparing to launch in Australia by the end of March 2025, with the UK expected to follow potentially in early 2026.
