On April 11, 2025, Britain, in collaboration with Norway, announced a major military aid package to Ukraine totaling over $580 million. The support package includes hundreds of thousands of drones, radar systems, anti-tank mines, and vital maintenance services for Ukrainian armored vehicles. This announcement was made during the 27th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting held in Brussels, which was co-chaired by Britain and Germany.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized the pressing need for advanced air defense systems such as the Patriot to counter Russian ballistic missile threats. As the conflict enters its fourth year, Western allies are increasingly concerned about the possibility of a new Russian offensive coinciding with talks on a ceasefire. Although U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was not in Brussels, he was expected to join the proceedings virtually after returning from Panama.
